In particular, the two bird figures on the head draw the viewer's attention. Commonly, birds in African masks mark the wearer as the bearer of messages. To put it succinctly, this mask is the African uniform for postmen.
On the Ivory Coast, the Baule represent the largest ethnic group in the country with more than 20 percent. Their way of life is traditionally characterized by agriculture and they are known for their great individuality. The most important works of art among the Baule are masks and figures, but artists also design everyday objects.
